Expert PT Care - Delivered Directly to You, Wherever You Are

Telehealth physical therapy is a secure, live video-based service that connects you directly with one of our licensed Dynamic PT therapists from the comfort of your home, office, or anywhere with an internet connection. Using a smartphone, tablet, or computer, you receive the same expert clinical guidance, movement assessment, exercise instruction, and progress monitoring you would in our clinic - without the commute.

Our telehealth sessions are conducted on a fully HIPAA-compliant platform, are available to both new and existing patients, and are covered by most major insurance plans at the same rate as in-person visits. Whether you need a virtual consultation, a guided exercise session, a follow-up check-in, or remote home program progression - our therapists are ready to see you online.

What We Can Do in a Virtual PT Session

Telehealth physical therapy is far more capable than most patients expect. Our therapists are skilled at assessing and treating a wide range of conditions remotely - here's what a virtual session at Dynamic PT can include.

Virtual Evaluation & Assessment

A thorough intake and movement screen conducted live via video - including range of motion testing, posture analysis, functional movement observation, and symptom review - to establish your diagnosis and treatment direction.

Guided Exercise Instruction

Your therapist demonstrates exercises in real time, watches your form through the camera, corrects technique on the spot, and advances your program at the pace your body dictates - just like an in-clinic session.

Home Program Progression

For current patients, we review and advance your individualized home exercise program - ensuring you're progressing safely between in-clinic visits and maintaining momentum in your recovery.

Progress Check-Ins

Virtual follow-ups to monitor your recovery milestones, reassess symptoms, review any concerns from your home program, and adjust your treatment plan - all without requiring an in-person visit.

Pain & Condition Education

Our therapists use telehealth sessions to deliver detailed education on your diagnosis, posture habits, activity modifications, ergonomics, and injury prevention strategies tailored to your daily life and work environment.

Pre- & Post-Surgical Consultation

Virtual prehab consultations before a scheduled surgery, or early post-surgical check-ins to review home precautions and gentle exercises - in coordination with your surgeon's protocol.

Simple Setup - You're Likely Already Ready

A Stable Internet Connection

Standard home Wi-Fi or a strong mobile data signal is all you need for a clear, uninterrupted video session.

A Smartphone, Tablet, or Computer

Any device with a front-facing camera and microphone works. A laptop or tablet propped up gives your therapist the best view of your movement.

A Small Clear Space to Move

A living room, bedroom, or any area with a few feet of open floor space is sufficient for most exercises. Your therapist will work with whatever space you have.

Comfortable, Appropriate Clothing

Wear clothing that allows your therapist to observe the area being treated - shorts for knee or hip issues, a tank top for shoulder work, and so on.

Benefits of Virtual Physical Therapy

No Commute, No Waiting Room

Start your session from home, work, or anywhere. Save travel time and fit PT into even the busiest schedule without disrupting your day.

Care in Your Own Environment

Your therapist can observe your actual home setup - furniture, workspace, stairs - and give advice tailored specifically to how you live and move daily.

Fully Secure & HIPAA-Compliant

Your sessions are conducted on an encrypted, HIPAA-compliant platform. Your health information and video feed are completely private and never recorded.

Continuity of Care

Stay connected with your exact therapist between in-clinic visits. No gaps in your recovery, no starting over with someone new - just seamless, consistent care.

Telehealth PT FAQs

Is telehealth physical therapy as effective as in-person PT?

For many conditions - particularly those managed through exercise, movement retraining, and education - telehealth PT is clinically equivalent to in-person care. Research published by the American Physical Therapy Association supports telehealth-delivered rehabilitation for a range of musculoskeletal and post-surgical conditions. That said, conditions requiring hands-on manual therapy, joint mobilization, or dry needling are best treated in person. Our therapists will always recommend the right format for your specific situation - and for many patients, a combination of in-clinic and virtual sessions delivers the best outcomes.

Is telehealth PT covered by insurance?

Yes - most major insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurers, cover telehealth physical therapy, often at the same co-pay rate as in-person visits. Coverage policies vary by plan, so we verify your telehealth benefits in full before your first session. Call us at (718) 826-3200 and our team will confirm your coverage and answer any billing questions before you commit.

Do I need to download a special app?

No app download is required. We use a web-based HIPAA-compliant platform that opens directly in your browser - on Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge. You'll receive a secure link before your appointment that you simply click to join. If you're using a smartphone or tablet, your built-in browser works perfectly.

Can new patients use telehealth, or is it only for existing patients?

Both new and existing patients are welcome for telehealth appointments. New patients can receive a full virtual evaluation and initial consultation to determine the best course of care. If your condition requires hands-on in-clinic treatment, your therapist will recommend that path and help you schedule an in-person visit at one of our six Queens & Long Island locations.

What conditions can be treated via telehealth?

Telehealth PT works well for chronic pain management, post-surgical home exercise progression, back and neck pain, sports injury rehab, vestibular exercise programs, geriatric balance training, general strengthening, and any condition where guided exercise and education are the primary treatments. It is also ideal for follow-up visits, home program reviews, and consultations. Conditions requiring direct hands-on techniques - such as manual therapy, cupping, or Kinesio taping - will be directed to in-clinic care.

What if my internet connection drops during the session?

If your connection drops mid-session, your therapist will attempt to reconnect via the video platform. If reconnection isn't possible, we'll continue by phone to complete your session or reschedule the remaining time at no additional cost to you. We recommend closing other browser tabs and apps before your session to give your connection the best chance of staying stable throughout.

Can I use telehealth for post-surgical rehab?

Yes - telehealth is a valuable supplement to post-surgical rehabilitation. We use virtual sessions for early home exercise guidance, review of surgical precautions, home program progressions, and check-ins between in-clinic visits. For phases of recovery that require hands-on work - such as scar mobilization, joint mobilization, or manual therapy - you'll be seen in person. Many post-surgical patients benefit from a hybrid approach, combining clinic visits with virtual check-ins to maintain progress without overextending themselves with travel.
