Free Complimentary Assessment

Licensed Dynamic Physical Therapy therapist conducting a complimentary assessment with a new patient

Get Answers Before You Commit to Anything

At Dynamic Physical Therapy, we believe you should know exactly what's causing your pain - and what can be done about it - before spending a single dollar on treatment. That's why we offer every new patient a complimentary assessment with one of our licensed physical therapists at any of our six Queens & Long Island locations.

In 20 - 30 minutes, you'll walk away with a clear understanding of your condition, an honest assessment of whether physical therapy is the right solution for you, and a recommended path forward - with no pressure, no sales pitch, and nothing to sign. If PT isn't right for your situation, we'll tell you that too, and point you toward the care that is.

What Happens During Your Free Assessment

Your complimentary visit is a real clinical evaluation - not a tour of the facility or a sales conversation. Here's exactly what your therapist will do in your session.

1

Listen to Your Story

Your therapist begins by understanding you - how long the pain has been there, what makes it better or worse, what you've already tried, and most importantly, what you're hoping to get back to. Your goals drive the entire conversation.

2

Review Your Medical History

A brief review of relevant past injuries, surgeries, medical conditions, and any prior imaging (MRI, X-ray) helps your therapist understand the full picture before laying hands on anything.

3

Physical Movement Examination

Your therapist will assess your posture, range of motion, muscle strength, and movement patterns - using their hands and eyes to identify restrictions, weaknesses, and compensation patterns that may be driving your symptoms.

4

Honest Findings & Diagnosis

You'll receive a clear, plain-language explanation of what your therapist found, what's likely causing your pain, and what the clinical picture suggests about your condition - no jargon, no vague answers.

5

Personalized Recommendations

Based on the findings, your therapist will outline a recommended treatment approach - including frequency, duration, and the specific techniques best suited to your condition. If PT isn't the right fit, they'll tell you who to see instead.

6

Your Questions, Answered

This is your time. Ask anything - about your condition, your treatment options, how long recovery typically takes, whether your insurance will cover it, or anything else on your mind. There's no rush.

What to Bring to Your Assessment

Photo ID & Insurance Card

If you'd like us to verify your insurance coverage for follow-up visits, bring your card. Not required for the free assessment itself.

Any Prior Imaging Reports

If you have MRI, X-ray, or CT reports related to your condition, bring them along. Your therapist can factor existing imaging into their assessment.

List of Current Medications

Particularly relevant if you're taking blood thinners, corticosteroids, or medications that affect healing or sensation.

Comfortable, Accessible Clothing

Wear or bring clothing that allows your therapist to observe and access the area of concern - shorts for knee or hip, a loose top for shoulder or neck.

20 - 30 Minutes of Your Time

That's all it takes. Arrive 5 minutes early to complete a brief intake form and you'll be seen by a licensed therapist shortly after.

Don't Wait for the Pain to Get Worse

Pain that's ignored rarely improves on its own - and minor issues left untreated often become chronic ones. A free assessment costs you nothing and could change everything. Our team is ready to see you at any of our six locations across Queens & Long Island, often same day or next day. Come in. Get answers. Leave with a plan.

Free Assessment FAQs

Is the assessment truly free - are there any hidden fees?

Yes - completely free. There is no charge for the complimentary assessment, no fee to speak with a therapist, and no obligation to schedule any follow-up visits. We don't bill your insurance for the free assessment visit. If you decide to begin a course of physical therapy after your assessment, we'll verify your insurance coverage and explain any costs before your first paid appointment - so there are never any billing surprises.

Do I need a doctor's referral to book a free assessment?

No referral is needed to book your free assessment. You can call us directly or request an appointment online. Under New York's Direct Access laws, patients can also begin a full course of physical therapy without a physician referral - though some insurance plans may require one for coverage purposes. We'll help you navigate that at the time of your assessment.

How long does the free assessment take?

The assessment typically takes 20 to 30 minutes. This includes a brief intake, conversation about your symptoms and history, a physical examination, and a discussion of findings and recommendations. We recommend arriving 5 minutes early to complete a short intake form so your therapist can make the most of your time together.

Will I receive treatment during the free assessment?

The free assessment is an evaluation visit - its purpose is to examine your condition, give you clear answers, and recommend the right next steps. Hands-on treatment (manual therapy, exercises, etc.) begins with your first scheduled paid visit. That said, your therapist may give you some immediate home advice, stretches, or exercises to start with right away based on what they find.

What if physical therapy isn't the right solution for me?

We'll tell you honestly. Not every condition is best treated by physical therapy, and our therapists are trained to recognize when a patient needs a different type of care - such as orthopedic consultation, imaging, pain management, or another specialist. If that's the case for you, we'll explain what we found, why we're recommending a different path, and if possible, who you should see next. Our goal is always your recovery - not filling appointment slots.

Which locations offer the free assessment?

The complimentary assessment is available at all six of our Dynamic Physical Therapy locations across Queens & Long Island - Flushing, Glen Oaks, Hicksville, Massapequa, South Richmond Hill, and South Ozone Park. Call us at (718) 826-3200 and our team will find the most convenient location and time for you, with same-day and next-day availability at most locations.

I've had pain for a long time. Is it too late to get a free assessment?

It's never too late. In fact, many of our patients have been dealing with chronic pain for months or years before finally seeking evaluation - and many of them achieve significant relief once the root cause is properly identified and addressed. Chronic conditions often respond very well to physical therapy, especially when treated with the one-on-one, hands-on approach we use at Dynamic PT. Come in and let us take a look.
